Description
This vintage linen postcard features Mount Capulin, an extinct volcano, 30 miles east of Raton New Mexico.
The back of the postcard tells us that Capulin National Monument, the most perfect example of a recently extinct volcano on the Western Hemisphere, has a winding road leading to its top. Thousands of tourists visit this phenomenon each year. It is 10,000 feet high with a crater 1450 feet across and 700 feet deep.
This National Monument covering 680 acres is located 3 miles from Capulin New Mexico on the highway to Clayton New Mexico and Dalhart Texas.
